Feedback from the Summer Activities
Over the summer 87 children and young people took part in our trips – Chester Zoo, Bridlington, Light Water Valley and Nell Bank and the 16 playscheme days at Addingham, and 17 children took up supported places.
Light Water Valley seemed very successful, members were able to get a wrist band that allowed them quick access to rides which saved queuing up and lots of stress.
Linda organised the day at Nell Bank, last year she felt that the staff weren’t particularly aware of our children’s needs and the program wasn’t as accessible as it might have been, so she met with the Manger prior to the visit and this seemed to have the desired effect and a successful and enjoyable day was had, even the weather was kind.
Families who attended the cookery day had a good time making fajitas for lunch and healthy gingerbread shapes to take home, the children were focused on the tasks required and thoroughly enjoyed the day, parents and staff suggested that more similar events to this would be good for other holiday times.
We organised a residential at Lineham Farm from 17 – 19 August for Leeds members, 12 children attended, the weather was pretty good all the time we were there and it was very enjoyable, the children all got on really well and had a very good time.
Our first 2 swimming sessions took place on 1st and 29th August, these were fully booked in no time and were thorough enjoyable sessions, some people didn’t manage to get places and bookings are already being taken for the forthcoming sessions.
